THE FLORIDA COUNCIL FOR CRIME AND DELINQUENCY (FCCD) August 2011
We would like to take the opportunity to recognize and thank Ms. Karen Colon, the State Officers, and the array of staff members with the FCCD for having Dr. Simon and I present to such a fine professional organization as the FCCD.
The setting, groups, picturesque location, and festivities were dynamic, memorable, and inspirational. The location for the training was the beautiful, Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa located in Sandestin, Florida. The emerald water and “sugar-sand” beaches were breathtaking.
The nature of the training that we conducted entailed two very popular topics of interest in today’s world: Understanding the Psychological Dynamics of School Place Violence, (School Shooters ) Bully Behavior, and Various Acts of Violence within schools and Understanding Emotional Factors and Personality Characteristics of Violent Sexual Predation. (Please see outlines from our website).
These areas were covered, highlighted, and presented to professional staff from the following agencies and departments from our state: Florida Department of Corrections, Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, Florida Parole Commission, various law enforcement agencies from our state and abroad, and the many sponsors who support the mission of law enforcement, department of corrections, and staff development .
There were two community service projects that were supported by the FCCD. One was the “Walk Away from Domestic Violence” campaign and the support for education and awareness on this worldwide dynamic. The other was for the Special Olympics and empowering those with a “can-do” mindset. These are two fabulous and much needed projects that we will continue to support!
Overall, the conference was inspirational, and we look forward to many years presenting and being the forensic and psychological consultants you may need within the areas of trauma, violence, and sexual deviance.
